King-Murphy Mountain School is beautifully nestled at the base of Mount Blue Sky, one of Colorado’s Fourteeners. We thrive in our natural surroundings, which add adventure to our classrooms. At King-Murphy Mountain School we understand that the world is our classroom. Our strong connection to local and state history, along with the recreational opportunities offered by the Rocky Mountains, have shaped us in many ways. The community’s ties to Colorado’s mountains—through skiing, mountain biking, fishing, and wilderness exploration—are as foundational to our school as they are to our community.
At King-Murphy Mountain School, students develop a strong sense of belonging through a combination of “Crew” time, small class sizes, and a tight-knit community where students grow up together. Students also benefit from the school’s growing strength in utilizing the Expeditionary Learning (EL Education) approach to teaching and learning. Ultimately, our students, families, and staff are driven by a common vision and a connection to a purpose greater than ourselves. All of these factors combine to make King-Murphy Mountain School a truly magical place to grow and learn.
